About WestGate @ Crane Technology Park

  • The concept for the development of a technology park to serve the needs of the Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center began with the contiguous counties of Martin, Daviess and Greene forming the WestGate Authority to facilitate the funding and oversee the development of the park. The counties saw an opportunity for economic development by creating a campus to house the companies that support the operations, research and development of Crane. The park was designated as a Certified Technology Park with part being designated a HUB zone by the State, which allows for the recapture of a large portion of the taxes generated by the development involved in infrastructure.
  • The WestGate Authority began the process of looking for a private developer to implement the plan. In 2005, Dale E. Ankrom, an Indianapolis-based architect, formed the WestGate @ Crane Development Company, LLC (WCDC) and began the land acquisition and planning process to make the park a reality.
  • The Park has attracted some of the largest names in defense contracting including SAIC, CACI, URS/AECOM, STIMULUS Engineering Services, Tri Star Engineering, CTC and many others. The main office of the Crane Federal Credit Union is located near the 60,000 square foot WestGate Academy which opened in 2012.
  • An interchange for the extension of I-69 is adjacent to the Park on the north end. I-69 will be completed to Bloomington in 2015, linking WestGate to Evansville and Bloomington.
